Lately, I've been feeling like I'm a hermit. We don't have cable, so I don't know much of what's going on around me. Yes, we have the internet, but I'd prefer to scrapbook or play games as opposed to read depressing news articles! I've been trying to do a little better, because I'm not really a fan of being clueless when someone asks me if I heard what happened today. Well, I'd rather be clueless than depressed about everything that goes on in this world. Today there was a bombing (as you all probably heard). Yesterday or the day before, there was a stabbing (and killing) in our town. I can't believe it. How come these things are happening?! The end of the world is near!
Because of this, I've been stressing more about raising kids in these times. Everyday I feel the pressure of teaching these sweet little spirits the gospel. We are trying hard to have family prayer and scripture each night. We haven't had Family Home Evening since we were married. We started a couple of weeks ago, but it's hard to make it a habit. I really hope that we can do an effective job of teaching our kids what is right. I hope one day they will see how important it is to follow the gospel and stay close to our Heavenly Father. Lately (especially since conference), the weight of raising children is heavy.
We are planning our FHE from the nursery manual to reiterate what he is learning there. Tonight, we learned about being a child of God. I love that Max is learning these gospel essentials in nursery and from primary songs. He can sing the first two verses of I Am A Child of God. Everybody is a Child of God. He knows all of us. He loves all of us, no matter what we do or have done. I'm glad we have this knowledge in our home.

I'm the same way. I prefer NOT to know what is going on in the world. Good for you for making more of an effort with FHE and scripture studay. I know that is the only thing that brings peace in spite of all the scary things going on around us.
I worry too. And pray the second coming is soon for the sake of our kids! I need to do better with FHE. Mark works late Monday and I hate doing it alone, doesn't seen the same. But I know I need to do it!!
