Marcus and I are pretty much in limbo right now. We don't really know what's going to happen in our lives in the next little while, and that bugs me. Marcus wants to apply for PIMA medical in Las Vegas, and has wanted to for a few months, but we won't even find out if he's accepted until June! That's still 3 months away!
We went and talked with a realtor last week, just so we could have an "in" incase some amazing deal came along that we wanted. For example, about a month ago, a 3 bedroom 2 bath house was for sale for only $87,900. It wasn't in an HOA, but it did need some work of course, but get extra money back on your mortgage for repairs, and it would still be under $100K. Now, that's a fantastic deal if I've ever heard of one.
I've been searching the papers every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (those are the only days they are published here in good ol' Mesquite) for a place to rent for cheaper than what we're paying. I'm partial to the falls or Hermosa Vistas... Maybe it's just that I'm partial to the 7th ward, so this has not been an easy task. There are lots of Rock Springs for rent for $600, $650, but I'm not so sure I want to live over there. It seems really cramped.
So, yesterday I get online to one of the management companies websites and they have an 1150 sq ft apartment for $600! I couldn't believe it. I called them right away,.. after telling Jenna because I was so excited... and they still had it available. Woohoo! Just to tell you why I'm so excited,... Our apartment now is 990 sq ft and we pay $725. I left work for a while, picked up my Mom, and we went to look at it. I was so excited. All we had to do was call the owners about Phoebe,... well the management company did.
I go back to work and they call and say, "We aren't even going to call the owners because you aren't allowed to have dogs at the Falls." ...I live at the Falls right now... I have a dog... "Well, only people that own their condos are allowed dogs." I knew that was a crock of crap so called the HOA to find out what the exact rule was on dogs. "1 small dog per apartment" YAY! So, I called back the management people, and informed them that they were incorrect and that's how it really is, and they were supposed to call me back, but did they? NO! None of these management places ever call me back. It ticks me off. So, now we're waiting for a call tomorrow, because they all went home for the day. What cushy jobs, off by 2. Sheesh!
So, maybe one day we'll have our lives figured out, but for now, we're trying to enjoy limbo everyday!.. It's getting hard though because the bar just keeps getting closer and closer to the ground!

150 square feet, that is small! Is it a ground floor one? I hope they call you back soon! Good luck
I'm going to assume you meant to type 1500 sq feet! Sounds like fun though, I'm sorry housing issues are such a stress!
I just wish that I could live in my own house with my husband right now. But we dont get our own house until I move over to be with him in korea.
If you ever need somewhere to spend the night in Vegas, you can always give me a call. We live on the outskirts, so it still takes forever to get anywhere, but it makes the drive a little shorter. Plus, they are selling the brand new house next to me for $130,000. But we have a HOA and that sucks!
I'd offer you an apartment...we have 625sq feet for $525 or a 2BR (750 sq feet) for $550..but unfortunately the dog would have to stay with grandma! ;)
I think the dog is going to end up staying with Grandma now anyway. This property management company isn't on my good side right now. I just forgot a 1 in the square footage, making it 1150,.. we really wouldn't be able to fit into a 150 sq ft apartment... could anybody? after the fridge and toilet, there would be no room for anything else!
YOU CAN'T LEAVE US!! Love, The 7th Ward
