New Year, New Life

Happy New Year! The starting of this year almost feels like a new life to me. I don't know about Marcus, but it's definitely different. Not very many things have stayed the same these last few months.

In December I started working in St. George rather than Mesquite. They closed the Mesquite branch of the credit union, but I was lucky enough to keep a job. I work in the call center. I generally answer stupid questions all day, but it's a job that keeps me busy, and I love it. There are 3 other ladies in the call center that are all over 50 (I think. I've worked there for 3 weeks, and that's the conclusion I've come to. I'm smart enough to not ask.) then me. It's interesting listening to them. Most of the time I have no idea what they are talking about. I sit in my little corner and will the clock to move faster. I'm the only active LDS member that I have figured out. They talk alot about old celebrities, singers, and things I didn't learn in my little, sheltered, LDS upbringing, but that's alright with me. I wouldn't have it any other way.

We moved in with my Mom and Dad at the beginning of December. I thought I was going to lose my job for 2 weeks, and that was the most logical decision money-wise, so we started moving, and decided we are going to stay and pay off at least one car while living here. Wish us luck! Car payments are the pits! We have a bedroom, and share the bathroom, but that's OK. As long as Marcus is here, I don't mind. It's weird now though, we do have to make sure we close the doors when we change and things, because just being the 2 of us with hardly any visitors, we didn't have to worry about that kind of thing. (Oops... TMI, sorry.)

Today was our first day as non-sunbeam teachers. We got to go to Sunday School for the first time since we were married, and attend Relief Society and Elder's Quorum. It was different. We couldn't pull out snacks to share when our tummys started growling, we couldn't talk while the conductor/teacher was talking, and it was quiet. It's going to take some getting used to and some discipline to get us (well, at least me) back into learning mode, rather than babysitting mode. We both already have calls. I guess that's the way it goes when you live with the bishop. Marcus gets to teach Elder's Quorum lessons on the 2nd and 3rd week. I am... I really don't know my official title, but here's what I THINK they called it... Relief Society Meeting Assistant Coordinator. I really couldn't tell you what I'm supposed to do... Something with our Tuesday night activities... I'm not really sure.

Marcus got 2 weeks of for Christmas Break, and he's had fun doing nothing. I wish working people got Christmas and Semester breaks. Sheesh!

My posts have been really boring as of late. My favorite part are the pictures, and since our 4th of July trip and insane hail/sleet/snow/rain storm, our camera has not worked. :( I thought I might get a new one for Christmas, but I didn't... Hopefully we will be proud new owners of one soon.

Biggest Loser starts Tuesday!

Lately I have been trying to turn off the noise in my life. I realized that most of my day consisted of working or sitting on the computer or Wii. It hasn't been as hard as I thought it would. I have realized that things I made a priority in my life... Facebook games, blogging, giveaways... we're really that important. I don't know what I do with all the time I don't spend doing those things, but it's been nice.

I've been told to update...

So, here I am. This is also a tactic to keep me from falling asleep.

We now live with my parents. That is going fine,.. all except for Saturday night, but that's another story...

Marcus is off school for 2 weeks, so now he gets to work 3 days a week, not just one! YAY!

I'm working in St. George now answering the phones. It is a good job, and I am EXTREMELY grateful I still have a job. The commute isn't bad. I have a hard time staying awake on the way home sometimes, but I knew there was a reason to not quit drinking Dr. Pepper :)

Phoebe is still old. She walks like it too. She is also still very territorial. Molly and Rufus aren't allowed to eat or drink out of her dish.

Well, that's our new life in a peanut shell.

When all is well, look out for the storm

Life was going well for M&m. We had money, jobs, school and were happy with where we were headed... Then my manager threw a curveball and said that my branch of the Credit Union is closing, and we won't have jobs any longer. It's been a long 2 weeks, and we still have a LONG 2 weeks (or more left).

We have decided that it is inevitable... We will have to move in with my parents... Yes, I know, I said this wasn't an option with Logan and Heather living there, but it is what has felt like the right thing, and the most sensible. It will help all parties involved (except for maybe Heather and Logan). Hopefully we can get moved in not long after Thanksgiving. We will have the back room, which will be nice... As long as we can fit our bed, TV, Computer and all the systems, games and movies in there, Marcus will be happy.

Marcus has finals this week and next. He got an 88 on one, and I did really well on another. He thinks he pulled Bs in both Medical Terminology and Intro to Radiography. Today he is taking his Anatomy & Physiology final. We'll see how that one goes when he gets here. That's the class he says has been toughest.

I'm so ready to be done with SouthWest Federal. I try to have a good attitude, and then get to work and realize I'm going to sit here and do nothing for the whole day just dampens my spirits. I wish we still had access to Facebook :) I came to work on Tuesday, and decided I really didn't want to be here, so I went home sick. It was the best day of the week so far :) If the job with Becky turns out to be full time, there is a good chance I will apply for it. If it's part time, I probably won't. I'll look for other jobs (if I can't work at another CU) and babysit Conner.

Right now we would like this 2 weeks to be over, and know what's in store for us, but we are supposed to be learning patience I guess... UGH! I don't have much of that.

I Need a Boost

I'm in a funk. I didn't want to get out of bed this morning, and definitely didn't want to come to work... I got to work, and my "funkiness" just got worse. I have been in this "funk" all day, and I really need something to make me happy. So, I'm going to try and see if what I did last time works this time. 10 things I'm grateful for...

1. Marcus Scott Kennedy
2. Having a place to call home
3. Knowing I get to see my Grandpa Abbott and (and everybody else that's in Heaven now) again
4: My Mom and best friend being the same person
5: Marcus getting into Pima
6: Having only 30 minutes of this awful work day left
7: Recognizing familiar friendly faces in strange places
8: My addiction back (Biggest Loser Ü)
9: Nieces and nephews that always seem excited to see me
10: Vacation time so we can visit family this weekend, and make this work week shorter.

Falls Apartment for Rent

Does anybody know anybody that needs an apartment? Our old Falls apartment is up for lease and is only $600/month. The owner pays the water and HOA fees. It's upstairs, 2 bed, 2 bath, quiet neighbors, nice location. It's a good deal with a good property management company running it. They take care of your needs whenever there is something wrong. The best part is... We had to pay rent for June, so you could move in tomorrow and not pay rent until July!

The Joys of Moving

Last night we started moving into our new apartment. I was so excited to move, that we moved as much as we could. My Mom and I started by ourselves, then Jenna came over after we moved 1 box each and helped us too. After about 2 times going up and down our lovely stairs, my Mom and I remembered why we have men! They are the movers, we're the bossers :) "We're old, lazy and flabby" as my Mom put it. I love my Mom!

Eventually we got Robby to come over, and then Wade, Jenna's husband. Thanks goodness for them! They were much more helpful than us 3 girls. Marcus finally got home from work about 8:30, and they moved for another hour and a half. We didn't get to bed until midnight, but this morning, I got to throw my clothes in the dryer without worrying about upsetting the lady downstairs! YAY!

We're not done moving yet. We still have quite a bit of crap over at the old apartment. Slow and steady. We're moving again tonight if you're interested in helping :) Our new apartment is right by the pool, so after we're done moving, you can go swimming!

Thank you Jenna, Wade and Robby! Your help is VERY much appreciated.

Wade & Jenna, it sounds like we'll get to help you move in the very near future, we owe you one. Just let us know when you're moving and we'll be there to help!

We Changed our Minds!

After much deliberation and prayer and stress, we came to the decision to not purchase the house in Bunkerville. We are staying put! When we initally bid on the house, we pictured the financing working out different and actually saving us money, but it wasn't going to work that way. We decided getting Marcus through school is much more important than buying a house. We have our whole lives to buy a house, but we need to get Marcus through school so we can feel better about starting a family and caring for kids. So, if anybody has access to the Toone's blog (because I don't) let them know that they might want to take their offer off the house, because we aren't moving after all Ü

What's Wrong With Me??

Marcus and I put in an offer on a house in Bunkerville. If you don't know where that is, it's just outside of Mesquite,.. so fairly close. It has absolutely nothing... Just houses, a fire station, little library, park, churches, and an elementary school... There might be a few other things, but that's pretty much it...

So, Marcus is WAY excited for this house, and I'm just super super nervous. What is wrong with me? Aren't I supposed to be the supper excited one?? He can't wait to get in and fix it up and add on and plant grass and a garden and make a basketball court... His list goes on and on, and mine is stuck at,... Do I really want to move out there?

I know it's the home body in me. You all are probably going to laugh, but I only looked for apartments in the Falls and Hermosa Vista when we got married. It's the only apartments in my Mom's ward! Now I'm thinking about moving out? Not only to a different ward, but to a "different" city. I quote different because It's technically a different city, but everything we would need is in Mesquite, work, food, gas, entertainment, family... yada yada. It's only 15 minutes away, but I am so sick inside about moving... AHH! I hate this. It's the same feeling I get when I'm leaving on vacation. I just want to crawl in a whole and cry.

I might be crying more than once... AND we still have a lease on our apartment until September 30th... So, maybe if we get the house, we can fix it up, then move our stuff over there slowly,.. and eventually it'll feel more like home.

Like my Mom told me, "McKenzie, Enjoy the Journey" That's what we learned about at Enrichment. So, here are the good things about the house:

Only $95,000
-On .28 acres, leaving lots of room to expand, because there is no master bedroom
-Ren and Chelsie live right down the street
-It's a small friendly town
-It would put me out of my comfort zone. I hate to admit it, but I need to step out of my comfort zone. It scares me to death to do so though.
-It's a fixer upper, so we can make the place our own, and with the price, we can get extra funding to do so hopefully.
-If we get a house, we'll have more visitors! YEAH RIGHT! But we would feel better about inviting people over for dinner and stuff.
-We could do laundry WHENEVER we wanted! YAY! This whole no laundry in the morning doesn't work for me.

So, that's what is taking over my mind tonight. It's really got me stressed out, but I'm trying hard to think more of the positive in it and all the friends I'll hopefully make out there. We would be in Ren's ward, so it wouldn't be TOO bad,.. but moving does always make you automatically a candidate to talk in church. YUCK!

Like I told Ashlie,... Baby steps... Maybe after we move to Bunkerville, I'll be brave enough to move to Littlefield, then St. George.... Wait, skip Littlefield, I don't wanna live there, we'll take a huge leap and go to St. George Ü But, if we have our way, we will be staying in the Mesquite/Bunkerville area. Although, we never know what the Lord has planned for us, and sometimes it drives me crazy!

Thanks for listening to me ramble. WoW! I just scrolled up and that's a lot of rambling. If you got to this part, I know you love me. Thanks for loving me!

Monster Sak!

Before we got married, my Chelsie found us all the living room furniture we have for free! It was so awesome! But, as we've sat on the couch for the last year (can you believe it's already almost a year?! Crazy!!) we've decided it's really not comfortable... So I started looking for a new couch in the newspapers and KSL.com. We didn't want to have to haul the piece of junk to our new apartment because it's heavy and it wouldn't be worth it. As I was looking, I came across this!

Marcus was so excited. It was on KSL.com for $100. The girl was going to Dixie and wanted the money for food rather than the beanbag, so we helped her out and took it off her hands.

We babysat Daiken and Halle on Saturday. It's really great for snuggling with a baby!

I really had no idea how huge it was when I told him we could get it. Him and Steven were shoving the poor thing into our little versa, and finally succeeded, and got it home.

So, we were going to move to a cheaper apartment... I went and turned in the application, and turned in our 30 days notice to our current apartment's management, and they called and got our landlord to lower our rent $125! I was really torn. I really wanted the bigger apartment right by the pool and my cousin, but we decided to stay in the place we're in right now, and save the deposit and pet deposit,.. not to mention the time and hassle of moving. So, we're here for another 6 months, but I'm totally fine with that because we're saving loads of money!!
