He's growing up too fast

We were sitting in Grandpa Abbott's jeep ready to leave and it wouldn't start. Max says, "What's going on?!"

...

When Max has an idea he says, (pointer finger pointing to the sky) "I got an idea!"

...

Max's friend, Champ (his build-a-bear), has been missing for a while. Tonight he was having a rough time with the fact that he couldn't sleep with him. We looked around the house for him (again) and finally I said, "Let's go say prayers and go to bed. Maybe Heavenly Father will help us find Champ." So, we went into his room, kneeled down and he started his prayer, "Heavenly Father, thank you for Grandma Grandpa (that's how it always starts.) Champ is lost. Please help us find Champ.
*keeps praying*
*starts rambling, so I start helping him.*
Mom: Please help me sleep good.
Max: Mom! Champ!
Mom: I know Max, he's lost.
Max: Mom, find Champ!
Mom: Please help us find Champ.
Max: Please help us find Champ. Champ is lost. I miss Champ.

Max is two! I am blown away that he understands that Heavenly Father can help us if we ask for his help.

...

He's picked up another phrase, but I can't remember what it at the moment, so I'm sure you'll be hearing it in the future.

Max Says Part 2

This is the conversation that went on right before scripture study a couple nights ago...

Max: Daddy, you number 1.
Dad: Thanks Buddy! Can Mom be number 1 too?
Max: No. Mommy number 2.
          ...Really?!

He made up for it today at the store by running down the aisle looking for me. Once he found me he said, "Mommy, I love you. You my best friend."

What a sweet boy we have.

Tired Out

Today we had an Easter party with a couple of other kids at the park. We went down the slides, ate lunch, then hunted for Easter. Max loved the whole thing. Afterward, we went to Grandma's house and she read him books while Sister was eating. Once we got home, he wanted his cupcake. So, we set him at the table to eat. I sat down to do some homework and heard snoring. I turned around and saw this adorable boy zonked out at the table.

Can we have Easter parties everyday right before nap time?

Zuigerphobia

My sweet, little, MOSTLY fearless boy is deathly scared of vacuums, and he isn't afraid to say so. Since Cora was born, he insists on having her right by him whenever we vacuum. Is this because he wants to protect her, or have her there for moral support? I don't know, but this video cracks me up.

Max Says: Part 1

I have been a total slacker in blogger land. I'm going to attribute that to being pregnant and then having our sweet little Cora. I am going to TRY and be better. No promises. So to start my re-entry into blogging, I'm going to share Part 1 of Max Says. (This is taken right out of his journal, so it reads like I'm talking to him.)

You say the funniest things! Here are a few from the past week or so.
Grandma and Grandpa went to the temple, so we went over to their house to get the stuff to milk the goats. You asked about 10 times “Where Grandma Grandpa?” I replied with the same answer. “They’re at the temple!” (Getting a little frustrated at the same question.) You thought about it a second and said, “Grandma Grandpa at place of love and beauty?” Yes, Buddy, yes they were. You are so insightful for a 2 year old.

I was at my wit’s end with you one day. I seriously was done. You came up to me and started singing “I love you, you love me.” (From Barney) You sing it a lot, so it didn’t help anything really, but then you got right in my face and said, “Mommy, sing I love you with me, please.” You humbled me instantly. I felt like a kid again when Grandma used to sing “There is Beauty All Around” when me and my siblings were being mean to each other. It melted my heart!

Last night you bit into a plum. You were really concerned about something, but we couldn’t quite understand what you were asking. Well, I thought I heard you said, “Need Band-Aid.” But that’s absurd! It’s a plum! Finally, I asked, “Does it need a Band-Aid?” “Yes Mommy!” Ha ha ha! When you bite into a plum, it looks like the peel is bleeding, and you were really concerned you hurt it.

Cake Smash

I got the kit for this page for free here! I made this page for a contest. It's from Max's first birthday. He LOVED eating the cake and frosting.

Happy Birthday

Today is Uncle Kameron's birthday. He is in Thailand on his mission. We attached this video to an e-mail hoping he'll be able to watch it. Max is wishing him a happy birthday. Where did my baby go?

Our Parrot

Max has really started talking. I feel like I'm always saying this, but each time it's different. This time, he is forming words really well. He also tries to repeat anything we ask him to. Sometimes it doesn't come out very well, but you can definitely tell that he is trying to say a certain word. Lately, he started saying, "Set, GO!" (Lots of emphasis on go!) after someone says ready. He also says "three!" if he hears, "one, two." Last night I decided to test his skills. He repeated "I love you." and Happy Birthday." Today I love you goes like this...

Mom: I
Max: I
Mom: Love
Max: You (sounds like eww. So cute!)

He has thanks and please down pat. He knows when to say each one.

This video shows absolutely nothing, but if you listen, you can hear Max being a parrot.

I love my smart, polite and handsome boy!

Scaredy Cat Max

Max loves being upside down, being thrown in the air, stuff like that. He is a thrill seeker. But he is also a little scaredy cat! He is afraid of FOOTBALLS! Any other ball is awesome, but footballs scare him to death. Figure that one out!.. and he is afraid of chihuahuas. We have other dogs, but Rufus is scary for some reason. Being the mean parents we are, we got his fears on camera. Enjoy :)
Lucky for us, we don't think he'll be asking for a chihuahua any time soon! It also looks like we'll be attending soccer games rather than football games.I'm OK with that. Less injuries in that sport.

Sleepy Baby

Max loves his sleep. He is usually pretty good about laying down and taking a nap, or falling asleep at night. If he is tired, all you need to do is put him in the car seat and he is OUT. He was playing with a water bottle one day while we were driving and we looked back to find this...

He jumped (you know when you're almost deep asleep, but not quite and you dream you fall off a cliff or something? That kind of jump), and ended up like this.
Apparently he didn't mind at all. Marcus had to take the water bottle away and he didn't even budge.

We took him to the doctor on Monday because he hasn't been sleeping well AT ALL. He had a double ear infection. Poor boy. He was so tired the whole trip. He kept falling asleep within the 5 minutes from destination to destination. Eventally he gave up and fell dead asleep. We took him out of the car seat, wrapped him up, and laid him in our shopping cart and he didn't even move. He must have been tired!

Now, he wakes up in the middle of the night and screams until we get him. Not crying, but full on screaming. He ends up in our bed pretty much every night, otherwise nobody in the house would get sleep. He is a bed stealer. 99% of the time he invades my space and I end up with about 6 inches of the bed, no joke. The 1% of the time he stole his Dad's side, I got proof. It is quite annoying! Any suggestions to make him sleep through the night?

This 'n That

I was going through the pictures on my phone, and decided share them with you.
Yes, we are Panther's fans!

These are my nephew and nieces. Their Mom found a job, so now I am babysitting them Monday thru Friday!

Our garage sale find! $10. Marcus couldn't pass it up.
My latest want! A baby carrier for the bike. He sits in front of me, and we've been trying to go on bike rides each morning. It is too dang hot to go any other time. We are loving it!

He is on the move! This is probably his favorite place to get stuck :)

Aunt Beenae loves Max. She especially loves when he gives her a reason to sleep ;)
Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale...

I don't know what it is, but I cannot get Max to fall asleep like this. Marcus always succeeds. Must be the Daddy touch nobody talks about. I love Max's face in this picture.

I had the hiccups this morning, and Max thought it was hilarious!

Sickness

Last Saturday Max started getting sick. Sunday I started getting sick. Dr. Jones met us at his office last week and gave both of us prescriptions for strep. 3 days later, both of us were seeming to get worse, so I took Max to the doctor to see if something else was wrong. He had a bad cold and double ear infection. So, our last week has consisted of...

Sleeping in the carseat or Mom and Dad's bed
Wiping boogers from his nose til it was raw
Coughing, then crying because it hurt
Staying up all night with a sad baby
Feeling bad everytime Max cried
Not eating because it was painful

Luckily, I think we're on the mend!

Tubby Time

We sat Max up in the tub for the first time a couple weeks ago. He couldn't figure out how to splash without losing concentration and falling over. Needless to say, he still prefers laying in the bath so he can splash with his arms and legs at the same time.

Carefree Chubby Bubby

...
I'll let these pictures speak for themselves

6 Month Stats

Yesterday was Max's 6 month check-up. Here's how it went...
He is 18 pounds 4 ounces
28 inches tall
his head is 43 cm around
and he got 3 shots
Trying to get a picture of his bandaids on his legs is a joke. He never stops moving, but he's very happy!
I'm tough, I don't need no stinkin' bandaids!
On the 15th, we "celebrated" his half birthday. He got half a cupcake, but wasn't allowed to eat it. It was overloaded with frosting! He's getting too big way too fast!

It was a HUGE cupcake

Happy 6 month...

Daddy mark to Marcus...

Mommy mark to McKenzie...

and 6 months old to Max!

We can hardly believe it's already been 6 months since we were in the hospital having Max. He has changed our lives drastically! Here are a few of his accomplishments and parts of his daily routine at 6 months old.
Wakes up between 6 & 7, has 3 naps (sometimes 4) during the day and goes to bed between 8 & 9.
He grabs any and every thing he can get his hands on. His favorite is Mommy's hair. I swear I'm going to go bald!
He absolutely loves the water, warm or cold, he wants to be in it.
More proof that he grabs anything he can. He loves to be where he can see what we're doing.
Has decided he is done nursing. I fought him for 2 days to eat, and finally gave up, so now he only nurses when he wakes up and when he goes to bed. He is really good at holding his own bottle.
He's doing amazing at sitting on his own. He tips every now and then, but for the most part, he's got it down.
He still doesn't like riding in the car. He is getting better at driving around town for the most part, but any more than 10 minutes is too long for him... So not looking forward to driving to Fish Lake.
Is still a baldy and gets to wear a sweet hat. His hair is growing in SLOWLY though!
Sits in the high chair and picks up foods and feeds himself, like saltines.
He is becoming a happier baby. Yesterday he was on the floor for 30 minutes and didn't yell or cry. It's honestly a new record!

.
He is also...

Rolling over. Since he learned how to roll both ways, he likes being on his belly more. He used to hate being on his belly.

Starting to scoot. He isn't very good right now, but he is slowly getting the hang of it.

Wearing size 3 diapers

Eating pretty much everything, but he doesn't like peas, and pears give him a bellyache.

Loves being outside. If he's fussy, this will make him stop crying. Looking forward to camping for this reason!

Still a Momma's boy. Hopefully we'll break him of this sooner than I got over it.
